Family patrimony
Mine! Yours! Whose? On July 1st, 1989, the provisions of the law instituting the family patrimony between married spouses and civil union spouses (June 24, 2002) came into effect. The purpose of this law is to provide for the equal division of the value of the family assets in the event of the death of one of the spouses, or following a breakup (divorce, separation, etc.)
How does the law apply to you? What are family assets? How do we establish the value of the assets to be divided? All of those questions require a good knowledge of law. The experts at Dupré Bédard are here to help you.
